About Leonie Higgins Noone
Full of contradictions, friendly and outgoing, but a borderline recluse. Mostly left handed, but a little right handed. Impatient, but a shocking procrastinator. An artist and a scientist. Leonie lives with her family surrounded by the Karri forest on the south west coast of Australia, land of the big surf and tall trees. Most of her subject matter portrays this forest landscape and the birds which live around her home. A road trip to the USA has also influenced her subject matter and she often portrays the red rock desert and rivers of southern Utah.. Leonie paints almost exclusively in acrylics, enjoying the immediacy the medium gives her. Her style is often described as playful and quirky.

A scientist and an artist.

And see the peaceful trees extend
their myriad leaves in leisured dance—
they bear the weight of sky and cloud
upon the fountain of their veins.
